Plastic, Aesthetic and Reconstructive Surgery

BEFORE SURGERY
1.Please come to an evaluation in my office to: A complete clinical evaluation, physical examination, taking pictures, and a detailed and complete explanation of your surgery.
2. No smoking to avoid complications in the scaring process and post operative period like hematomas, dehiscence of the wound, etc
3.No aspirin (Acetylsalicylic acid) because it increases the blood.
4. Please inform of any illness or medication.
5.Preoperatice lab test must be in a normal range of values:
a) Complete Blood Count.
b) Glucose, bun, and creatinine.
c) Prothrombim time and partial thromboplastin time.
d) General Urin Analysys.
6. Patient 40 years old and older may take a cardiological evaluation with all the lab tests, plus an electrocardiogram and a thorax X-Ray.
7.Patients with a special diagnosis like:diabetes mellitus, high blood hipertension, tyroid gland illness, etc must be evaluated by their specialist.

THE DAY OF SURGERY
1, Shower with water and soap for abdominal surgery specially in the navel area.
2. Take your necessary personal items such as shampoo, soap, sandals, bathrobe, comfortable suits, etc. If necessary with materials needed for your surgery like: compression garments. etc.
3.Please be on time, as indicated with a responsable relative.
4. When you arrive to the hospital, please pay the deposit at the admission desk.
5.Sign your medical consent form: One for your surgery, the second for your anesthesia and the third for the hospital.
6. Please no unpainted nails, no facil make-up, no jewelries.
7. If your surgery is performed at the hospital. It is convenient to stay one night and be discharged the next day, until a complete anesthesia recovery.

AFTER YOUR SURGERY
1. Take your medication as indicated: antibiotics to prevent infections, and pain killers for the pain, and follow all the specific medical indications.
2. If there is any doubt call immediately.
3. Be on time with your appointments at the doctor's office as indicated.
